1.5GHz G4 at MacWorld New York, Not G5

PPC 7470 in July, G5 early 2003.
A story at The Register says that Motorola is prepping its PowerPC 7470 for MacWorld
New York, with speeds up to 1.5GHz.
The 7470 is a G4 chip which supports PC2100 SDRAM and bus speeds up to 266MHz,
although The Register says Apple has yet to decide on the speed of the memory bus.
PC2100 SDRAM is used in Apple''s new XServe rack-mount G4, announced recently.
Support for a front-side bus is also incorporated into the PPC7470, with speeds up to
333MHz. It can also accept up to 4MB of L3 cache. The 7460 is a cacheless version of
the same chip (in the same sense that the PPC750 [G3] has cacheless PPC740 cousin,
used in only one Mac model), which could potentially see service in a PowerBook,
should excessive heat not be an issue.
On the G5 front, the story suggests that Motorola already has a 2.4GHz version running
stably, but that we won''t see it until early next year.
Analysis: Who''s money is on a G5 for July? Or is 1.5GHz of G4 - probably DP at the
high end - enough to get you driving a Power Mac?
