If you''re into Apple rumorology, this one is a real gem complete with references to a
dead rock star and a burgeoning bald spot
The online version of The Nation is carrying a rant by John Densmore -- who played
drums for The Doors -- in which he claims Apple has been trying to get the rights to a
song for $1.5 million to use in a TV commercial to advertise their "cube computer
software" (?!?!?). Here''s an excerpt from his, uh, article:
"Apple Computer called on a Tuesday -- they already had the audacity to spend money to
cut When the Music''s Over into an ad for their new cube computer software. They want
to air it the next weekend, and will give us a million and a half dollars! a million
and a half dollars! Apple is a pretty hip company...we use computers.... Dammit!"
He''s probably right about the part about Apple wanting to buy the rights to a song
for use in a commercial and he''s probably way out in outfield, maybe not even in the
stadium about "cube computer software." Then again, maybe the name is just an Apple
codename for a new iPod on steroids? A PDA that can store and playback mp3s? Or would
that be an mp3 player that also functions as a PDA?
I''m not sure what to make of this "news" except perhaps that only aspiring presidents
should smoke pot.
