Deals: $99 VST Expansion Bay CDRW for Pismo/Lombard

Inexpensive PowerBook G3 CDRW for those suffering iBook/TiBook envy.
MacZone is discounting its VST media bay CDRWs to $99.
Designed for the right-hand bay of the PowerBook G3 Series (Bronze/FireWire only),
these drives offer 4x CDR burning and 4x CD-RW. They read discs at 20x.
Bundled with Toast 4.0 (upgradeable to Toast Titanium), these drives work with both OS
9 and OS X. On Pismos, SmartDisk state they are bootable. At $99, they are half the
$199 price SmartDisk were offering them for at its online store recently.
They also provide an alternative to the UJDA-330 Matsushita drive often purchased as a
bare CDRW on ebay. With the OEM drives, you need to pull apart an unused or broken CD
or DVD drive and slot the CDRW into the casing, as well as exchanging the bezel. The
VST CDRW gives you another swappable module, so you don''t need to locate a casing.
It''s also a lot cheaper than the MCE units, even the comparable older 4x4x20 units.
Not fast CDRWs, by any means, but they don''t suck down that much battery juice either.
