Jaguar: Now Shipping Early August, Sources State

Not August 22 anymore.
ZDNet are now reporting that Apple will ship Jaguar (OS X.2) in early August,
contradicting earlier anecdotal evidence from Apple resellers that Jaguar would hit
shelves on August 22.
Moving forward Jaguar''s release has probably been brought on by Apple''s recent Q3
earnings warning. This, together with the back-to-school period, is likely to account
for any early release by Apple.
Recent stories at ThinkSecret have also reported that Jaguar builds are progressing so
well that the company may choose to release sooner rather than later.
Another reason may underlie the early shipment of X.2: it would allow Jobs to announce
revamped Mac hardware running the upgraded OS X, which features Quartz Extreme, its
supercharged graphics layer.
Analysts cited by ZDNet did not see X.2 as a big box mover, but conceded that OS 9
users could see Jaguar''s benefits as enough to finally make the jump.
