MWNY: ATI Announces Radeon 9700, 9000

Supercharged ATI cards coming.
ATI has announced its Radeon 9000 PRo and Radeon 9700 at MacWorld New York, which it
claims are the fastest graphics cards in the world.
Shipping in late summer and early fall, the new Radeons, ATI claims, deliver twice the
graphics power of any other GPU on the market.
"As with all RADEON products, the RADEON 9000 PRO and RADEON 9700 were developed with
the Mac in mind," said Rick Bergman, Senior Vice President, Marketing and General
Manager, Desktop, ATI Technologies Inc.
The Radeon 9000 Pro Mac Edition has 64MB of DDR memory on board, and dual display
capabilities. Boasting both ADC and DVI-I connectivity, the 9000 allows one or two
Apple or third-party flat panels or CRT displays to be connected simultaneously. The
9000 also permits users to connect an Apple Cinema display to their Macs "without a
costly adapter". Two Cinema displays can be supported at once.
Still want more power? ATI has also announced its Radeon 9700 Mac Edition, which
features 128MB of DDR RAM. Like the 9000, it features dual display capabilities.
"This fall, Mac users will also be witness to the raw power of ATI''s RADEON 9700, the
world''s fastest and most technically advanced chip," said Bergman.
