XLR8 goes belly up

A note posted on the company''s site warns that warranty and tech support are no
longer available
XLR8 has announced that it is no longer in business. Apparently the company gambled
that its new 550MHz single and dual-CPU upgrades (announced July 11), as well as its
updated for OS X and QT 6 InterView video-capture product (announced July 12) would
boost sales enough to overcome financial difficulties.
Here''s a quote of the message posted on their website:
"XLR8, Inc. has closed its doors and is no longer in business. There is no technical
or warranty support available. We apologize for any inconvenience."
Inconvenience indeed...
Analysis: It seems that the Mac processor upgrade market only has room for three
companies. With Newer''s recent return, apparently one company had to go.
Silly numerological explanations aside XLR8''s demise can likely be linked to the fact
that it wasn''t able to offer upgrades competitive with those now hitting the streets
from Sonnet and PowerLogix. Also, that the company tanked so shortly after new and
updated product announcements could be indicative that an expected line of credit was
withdrawn.
