Apple ''Switch'' Ads Spawn EllenFeiss.net
By Remy Davison, Insanely Great Mac
September 2nd 2002

How would you like an internet shrine set up in your honor?

Apple''s Swirch ads have thrown up some unlikely ''stars'' - and Ellen Feiss is one of
them.

So much so, says an LA Times article,/A> that a fan has set up ellenfeiss.net which
has received 25,000 visits in a month (25,001 now), following a Wired article.

But the article says that Apple has been careful to guard the privacy of those
appearing in the Switch ads and has not provided any additional information about
them, beyond what is on their Switch site.

The Ellen Feiss tribute web site also sells mugs, T-shirts and other souvenirs, all of
which bear her image. There''s an Ellen photo gallery that had photos of her from
grade school and at MacWorld New York (we guess getting seats at MWNY doesn''t
constitute being paid).

The Switch ads have also prompted a number of satirical and not-so-satirical spoofs,
some of which target Apple''s charge-for-dot-Mac policy.

Analysis: We guess this is all harmless fun - but isn''t there a law against stalking?
