WeatherPop, the popular menu bar utility, has been updated to version 1.5.1. The new
version restores service with updated weather data.

Last weekend WeatherPop users experienced a data outage. The problems were due to
changes in source data format. According to the authors at Glucose Development, the
new version has ability to take data from multiple sources, limiting the possibilities
of future outages. The new version also supports the ability to get data from
different sources, if one source appears to be more accurate for a specific location
than another. Currently weather.gov and my.aol.com are available.

WeatherPop is a menu utility that places weather data in the menu bar. It provides
current temperature and an icon of current conditions outside. When clicked, it can
provide greater detail such as extended forecasts and also addition weather data.
WeatherPop supports multiple cities, which can be changed via a pull down menu.

WeatherPop 1.5.1 is available in two version, a free version and an Advanced version
for $14. The Advanced version offers color graphics, where the free version is
grayscale.

Analysis:

I''ve mentioned WeatherPop a few times. It''s one of my favorite OS X utilities and I
recommend it to everyone. The developers moved quickly to address the problems of lost
data, and I''m very pleased to get it back. It''s probably worth noting that version
1.5.1 still has some bugs. The developers rushed it out the door while trying to
address the data source issue, so future point updates are surely to follow.
