Aladdin ships StuffIt Deluxe 7.0

New version includes convenient M$ Word integration for fast, easy to ''stuff and
mail'' feature
Aladdin has announced the release StuffIt Deluxe 7.0, the newest Macintosh version of
the industry-standard access and compression utility. The new StuffIt X (pronounced
"ex") file format integrates compression with security and safety options. The sitx
file format provides strong encryption (512-bit), improved compression (up to 30% over
previous formats), error-correction, larger archive size, and support for long-file
names. The StuffIt Deluxe application includes M$ Word integration for fast access to
the popular ''stuff and mail'' feature and improved command line tools.
"StuffIt''s new format makes it easier to quickly organize, access, and securely
exchange information worldwide in today''s digital lifestyle, where capacity is always
at a premium," said Matthew Covington, StuffIt product manager. "Cross-platform
hassles are gone with self-extracting archive creation and full support for Zip files.
Plus, StuffIt Express saves you time by providing a one-step solution for automating
file transfers and distributing documents, like digital photos and business
presentations."

Editor''s note: v7.0 for Windoze has been available for some time and I was becoming
worried that Aladdin was just the latest in a long line of software vendors to start
down the slippery slope of diminishing Mac support. Phew! What a relief.
