If you''re particular about exercise and the foods you eat, you need this software

FireLogic has announced the release of a Diet & Fitness version of its HealthEngage
software system for X, which joins versions designed for Diabetes, Asthma, and
HIV/AIDS management. HealthEngage Diet & Fitness allows users to make daily exercise,
diet, and wellness management easy and convenient. By creating a specially optimized
version of its software for Mac OS X, the company hopes to ensure that Apple CEO Steve
Jobs'' concept of the "digital hub" will expand beyond audio and video.

The software is available for X and can also be used with Palm OS and PocketPC
devices. FireLogic has optimized the software for use with X.2 and is working on a
Bluetooth-enabled version in order to take advantage of Apples Rendezvous and iSync
technologies.

For weight loss, cardiovascular fitness or weight training, HealthEngage Diet &
Fitness helps users reach their goals. As FireLogic president Michael Slage explains,
Research shows that when users track their diet and fitness, they''re more likely to
reach their diet, exercise and health goals. FireLogic believes that it has created
the most powerful diet and fitness
management software tool currently available to help users reach their goals.

HealthEngage Diet & Fitness lets users plan your meals from over 6,700 foods in the
USDA database. It also lets users choose daily activities and exercises, with
pre-calculated calorie burn rates, from over 650 activities from the Sports Medicine
Association of America. Users can set reminders about upcoming tests, reorder supplies
or a doctor appointment by setting up an alert. HealthEngage Diet & Fitness will
alert you as soon as you log into the application. Users can enter their complete
laboratory test results, inoculations and medications, which can be kept as their
personal digital health record.

The company offers both desktop ($59.95) and desktop/palm ($69.95) versions. A free
trial version is available here.

Also, a review of the product can be viewed here.

Editor''s note: The Mac OS (Classic, X) and Palm or PocketPC functionality is a nice
touch. Jaguar compatibility and use-it-anywhere functionality make this a very
interesting and, at face value, useable product.
