Exit Kevin Browne from MacBU

Who will head the MacBU now?
General Manager of Microsoft's Mac Business Unit (MacBU), Kevin Browne, has left the
organization to work at MS's Xbox gaming division, says the Hollywood Reporter.
No reason was given by Microsoft as to why Browne was departing, except that he wished
to "pursue his personal interests in games and sports."
Browne replaced veteran Mac software boss Ben Waldman when he was promoted to another
MS division. Browne has been responsible for overseeing the developnent of Mac Office
2001, Office v.X and Internet Explore for Mac. While Office 2001 sales have been
highly respectable, MS's X version has sold at less than half the company's
expectations, prompting a recent price cut on upgrades and full editions of Mac Office.
No replacement for Browne has been announced, while Apple Computer has not commented
on his departure. Browne was not available for comment.
