XChar revved to v3.0
By ron carlson, Insanely Great Mac
October 18th 2002
Here's a handy and cheap app that provides quick-n-easy access to umlauts, thetas and
copyright symbols
XChar allows users to quickly use uncommon characters even if they don't remember the
key combination needed to use a certain character. This app displays a window
containing all the characters, including Unicode, that your Mac can display. When you
need one of it, simply drag and drop it on the place where you need it. And when you
don't need XChar, you can reduce its window to a small icon and place it where you
want on your screen. When you'll need it again, simply click on it and it will zoom
again. Moreover, XChar is a standalone application and doesn't need any special
extension to run.
What's new in 3.0?
 Also displays HTML codes for special characters;
 Highlight characters to quickly find them;
 Window now is automatically moved to fit inside screen;
 Faster application loading and better overall responsiveness;
 Minimize the XChar palette in the upper-right corner under X;
 Set palette traslucency under X; and
 Supports Mac OS 8.1-9.2.2 with CarbonLib installed;
 as well as many minor bugs were fixed
XChar is shareware and sells for $10 only. It can be downloaded here.
