Acrobat 5.1 released by Adobe
By ron carlson, Insanely Great Mac
October 21st 2002
New version includes support for digital signatures, file attachments, e-mail options,
and more.
Adobe has announced the release of Acrobat Reader 5.1, an update of its app for
viewing .pdfs. Version 5.1 adds support for commenting tools, digital signatures and
the ability to save forms and forms data for offline completion, submission and
archival storage.
In related news, Adobe has also announced that the Windows and Solaris versions of its
$75,000 Adobe Document Server for Reader Extensions server have been updated as well.
This app allows enterprises the ability to automate electronic forms and document
processes-reducing reliance on inefficient paper-based workflows. To date, however, an
X version is not yet available.
Acrobat Reader can be downloaded in a single step here.
Editor's note: Hopefully, the availability of Reader 5.1 presages the release of a
revised version of Acrobat that resolves X-related issues. Anyone got any dish of this?
