Update: SuperDrive Update Clarified
By Remy Davison, Insanely Great Mac
October 24th 2002
Apple steps in with firmware fixes coming for OS 9, Power Mac G4
Apple has posted a note on its SuperDrive page, making its iMac SuperDrive update
available on the web. Yesterday, it was only possible to access the firmware update
via the Software Update utility.
Apple now says that an OS 9 version, together with a Power Mac version, will be
"posted shortly".
As IGM reported earlier, the firmware update addresses issues Pioneer identified some
weeks ago in some of its older DVD-R drives with more recent 4x DVD-R and 2x DVD-RW
media
Apple also notes that no eMacs, 17" iMacs or Power Macs shipped since August 2002 have
this issue with the SuperDrives.
