X-bytes: Don't miss another appoitment
By ron carlson, Insanely Great Mac
November 3rd 2002
A whole-number update on Alarm Clock Pro and, of course, this week's MacUpdate Top 10
Koingo Software has announced the immediate release of v6.0 of Alarm Clock Pro, an
alarm and reminder utility that can play QuickTime-compatible sound file. Fixes and
features in this whole-number release include:
Volume Pop-up Menu Replaced with a Slider Control.
Looping Alarm option added for each alarm.
Audio fade-in option added for each alarm.
Turn off Alarm after X seconds option added for each alarm.
Can now set any day(s) of the week to ring (ie. Wed, Sun and Tue).
Added ability to play a Random iTunes song.
Can now set the volume for the Ring Beep.
This app is especially handy for X users as the alarms in iCal don't yet work. This
$12.95 shareware app can be downloaded here.
Wake up and smell the electrons!
For those seeking a pure-play alarm program CountDown from WaterFall Software is a
great yet simple timer program. It's like a virtual alarm clock with tons of features.
It has over eight built in alarm sounds, and even allows you to open your own
QuickTime file to use as your alarm. And it allows custom messages to pop up when the
set time is up! It even has a clock that tells you the time so you know when to time
up, or down, or time remaining.
Countdown -- shareware, $10 -- can be downloaded here
And, the envelope please...
You download 'em and we count 'em down every Friday here on the Mac news and opinion
