PocketMac for Jaguar arrives

PC-based handhelds are cheap, feckless and plentiful, and now Mac-compatible

Information Appliance Associates has announced the release of PocketMac 2.0 for
Jaguar, a new version that takes full advantage of Mac OS 10.2. PocketMac is the
original Mac-to-Pocket PC sync software and this new software upgrade strengthens
existing features and even adds some new ones.

New features include the ability to browse the Internet with your Pocket PC to full
compatibility with HP 54x and iPaq 3900 devices, as well as several of the newer
Pocket PC phones and the ability to sync with the Jaguar's Address Book and iCal.

"This is it! The version of the software our users have asked us for," said Terence
Goggin, product manager. "We've fixed all the remaining bugs with this release; it's
faster and much more stable."

PocketMac 2.0 also adds key features that customers have requested. With PocketMac,
users can now take screenshots. They can also do limited Internet browsing from the
Pocket PC while connected to their Mac.

"We've been completely overwhelmed by our customers' and the Mac community's response
to this new release," Goggin continued. "They have asked and asked us for the ability
to browse the Internet with their Pocket PC and we're thrilled to finally be able to
offer that."

This release will also include new sync plug-ins, including ones for Address Book and
iCal.

Editor's note: Not all PocketPC devices are created equal (i.e. PocketPC is an M$ OS),
so shop carefully. There are some really good to be had.
