Rumor: Apple Preps Final Cut Pro 4.0

High-end editing features for Apple's Pro DV application.
Final Cut Pro 4.0 will support 24fps editing as well as DV50, according to ThinkSecret.
DV50 is an improved DV standard; currently FCP 3.0 supports DV25. DV50 records and
plays data at 50 megabits per second, which is approximately 6.25 megabytes per
second. It provides considerably better picture quality than DV25.
Panasonic supports the DV50 standard, and ThinkSecret says that Panasonic will also
release a FireWire camera shortly, which Apple plans to support with its 24fps editing
in FCP 4.0. According to Nick de Plume's story, Panasonic has opted to work with Apple
rather than Avid, and has delayed releasing the camera until a mainstream editor was
on the market with support for the Panasonic 24p.
ThinkSecret's sources suggest that a beta of FCP 4.0 isn't ready yet, and that a
preview may not be on the cards for MWSF in January.
