Apple Releases iMac SuoerDrive Update for OS 9
By Remy Davison, Insanely Great Mac
November 26th 2002

Support for 4x/2x DVD-R/DVD-RW media in firmware revision.

Apple has released revised firmware for the flat-panel iMac G4 (15" models only). The
firmware addresses issues regarding the internal Pioneer DVD-R 'SuperDrive' and the
use of 4x/2s DVD-R/RW media. Apple has also released upgraded firmware for SuperDrives
in Power Mac models with older versions of the DVD-R drive.

This update is designed only for the 15" models (the 17" iMacs feature newer Pioneer
drives). It is also specifically designed for OS 9. External DVD-R drives are not
supported.

Apple states that "This update also enables you to eject audio CDs that are
copy-protected or have mastering errors."

iMac SuperDrive Firmware Update 1.0 is a 2.3MB download.
