Sorenson announces Squeeze 3 for MPEG-4
By ron carlson, Insanely Great Mac
December 2nd 2002
The benchmark video compression app is set for a major revision in Q1
Sorenson Media has announced the availability of Squeeze 3 for MPEG-4. With access to
the advanced features in the Sorenson MPEG-4 Pro codec, users can create high-quality,
web-ready media.
"Sorenson Squeeze 3 for MPEG-4 is one of the highest quality MPEG-4 encoders
available, with unparalleled ease of use and depth of features, at a fraction of the
price of its competitors," according to Video compression methodology and codecs
expert Ben Waggoner, founder of Interframe Media, a firm that offers industry-leading
digital video consulting, training, and encoding services.
With Squeeze 3 for MPEG-4, content creators can encode and deliver high-quality
digital ISMA MPEG-4 compliant media easily and at low cost.
Set for availability in Q1 '03 Squeeze 3 for MPEG-4 is expected to sell for $199 (SRP)
and Squeeze 3 Compression Suite for $449 (SRP). Upgrade pricing will be available for
current users of Sorenson Media products.
Editor's note: MPEG-4 has been touted by everyone except M$ the present and future of
streamed video, yet it has taken what seems to be an exorbitant amount of time for all
the pieces to fall into place.
