Opera 6 for Mac Gets Additional Language Support

First non-English versions for Mac.
Opera Software has announced German and Japanese versions of its Opera 6 web
browsers. The release marks the availability of Opera on the Mac in languages other
than English.
"Our extensive language support on Windows has been very important for our success on
the platform, and we have been working hard to implement this feature for the Mac
version as well," says Mary Lambert, product line manager desktop, Opera Software ASA.
As Opera for Windows is available in 32 different languages, the develper team need
only make minor alterations to bring these editions to Mac. The company says that
further language support for the Mac version of Opera can be expected in the future.
Opera Software also notes a number of improvements in the latest beta.
Modifications "include improved rendering performance, improved font switching for
better support of international Web pages, some UI tweaks and of course a great deal
of fixes since Beta 2."
Opera is a free download in beta form. Users can register for $29 during the beta
period, a $10 saving, which entitles users to a free upgrade to Opera 7 when it
becomes available, and 6 months' OperaMail Premium.
