StageTools releases MovingPicture v4.0
By ron carlson, Insanely Great Mac
December 9th 2002

Pan and zoom software for animation of still images in NLEs, and includes Alpha
Support and 3D Camera Moves

StageTools has announced the release of its popular MovingPicture image pan and zoom
software. New features include the ability to use the alpha channel in images for
high-quality floating logos and special effects, the ability to rotate the camera in
three dimensions to achieve "skewed" effects, Jaguar support and a host of
productivity enhancements.

"This release offers some very powerful ways of animating still images without losing
the ease of use MovingPicture is famous for," said StageTool's founder Bill Ferster.
"There are some new features that have streamlined the process of making smooth moves
on stills, while still allowing direct control of eases and other important options."

MovingPicture is a tool for documentary and industrial filmmakers to pan and zoom on
high-resolution images. It takes scanned images up to 4,000 pixels and allows for
perfectly repeatable pans and zooms directly using a Mac or as a plug-in to most
nonlinear editors.

MovingPicture for Mac versions are available for After Effects, Avid, Final Cut Pro,
Media 100 and Premiere, for both Classic and X.

A fully functional demo is available for download and the commercial release of the
MovingPicture Plug-In sells for $199 (SRP). Registered users can upgrade at no charge.

Editor's note: Improved X compatibility can only help drive X' adoption rate and
hopefully an upgrade binge by Apple's core group of pro users, which is long overdue.
Naturally, faster processors and a true DDR bus would help drive an upgrade cycle.
