Digitimes: Apple Will Kill iMac 17" in June '03
By Remy Davison, Insanely Great Mac
January 2nd 2003
Does this mean the death of the iMac as we know it, or a 19" model?
The 17" flat-panel iMac will cease production in June this year, reports Taiwanese IT
publication Digitimes.
The report comes as a shock as MWSF approaches. The publication has also stated that
Apple ceased orders for 15" iMac flat panels in October 2002. The news is at
considerable variance with the speculation that Apple will persist with the 15" iMac
LCD, but will position it only as the entry-level model. Three other models in the
iMac line up are expected to be introduced with 17" screen.
Digitimes says sales of the 15" iMac LCD "practically stalled" in June 2002, which
resulted in the "early production termination in October."
No further information is provided regarding the cessation of iMac 17" LCD production.
