iThieves: Damage - iPod, 1, PowerBooks, 0.
By Remy Davison, Insanely Great Mac
January 12th 2003
Some people will do anything to get a 17" PowerBook G4 early.
Enterprising thieves also lurked among the booths at MacWorld San Francisco last week,
according to a weekend story at Wired.
The article says one consultant at a nearby booth said well-organized thieves
succeeded in stealing two 17" PowerBooks by snipping the security cable. However,
security guards at Apple's booth said none of the PowerBooks were stolen, although an
iPod did disappear, as they weren't as well secured.
Analysis: Steal a PB 17"? How could you even get near one, what with people virtually
killing each other to get near it and play with it?
On the other hand, we guess if they'd succeeded, it'd be pretty easy to pick which
PowerBooks on eBay were up for auction courtesy of our light-fingered 'friends'.
