AmpliTube Live coming to X
By ron carlson, Insanely Great Mac
January 13th 2003
>From soft, plush tones to howling wah-wah, here's the way to make your Mac scream
AmpliTube has announced that AmpliTube Live (framed site, so no direct links), a
stand-alone version of the award-winning Amplitube that featured in Phil Schiller's
Power of X MWSF presentation, will soon be up and running on X. This application
allows players to 'revolutionize their approach to live performances and computer
music.'
"Thanks to new Mac OS X Jaguar's built-in audio features, you'll be playing livewith
no-detectable-latency, [that's right... we'll say it again... no-detectable-latency]
in a matter of seconds," the company claims. "And, you'll be able to control it using
your preferred MIDI foot controller for your laptop-based-live-gig."
AmpliTube Live doesn't need any other application or hardware: a player merely needs
to run the software, plug in a guitar into the mic in, line-out to "any"
power-amp-to-speaker-cabinet or powered speakersand this 21st-century rig is ready to
rock.
AmpliTube Live gives players tons of the most sought after modern and vintage tube
amplifiers (samples available on their site). This app offers a sophisticated but easy
way to use a complete guitar-rig -- presets, amps, cabinets, stomp boxes, post effects
-- without the heavy lifting.
AmpliTube XLive will retail for $299 some time after the PC version ships in February
for $99.
Editor's note: Foul! Foul! The X-compatible version is to cost $200 more than the
flipping PC and Classic versions? Fire the marketing director! Can the entire sales
team!
