X-quest: Get fast, easy access to all of your apps

Dock Dispatcher, Tiger Launch make it easy to locate, launch buried software
Although the Dock is both convenient and fast, it's certainly lacking in options and
space. For those of us who regularly use dozens of apps, accessing them in a pinch can
be problematic not to mention slow. Yes, you can press a handy key combination (Apple
+ Option + A) to open the applications folder, but tracking down the particular tool
you're looking will take additional time to locate therein.
This is just inelegant and very un-Mac-like.
One of the utilities you can use to tame this tangle is YostWorks' Dock Dispatcher,
which creates a �Dispatcher folder in your Dock, containing your applications and
utilities categorized in a logical array of subfolders. From this Dock "hot button"
you can access your applications and utilities in a hierarchical menu format for fast,
easy one-click launch.
YostWorks offers a six-minute demo/instructional QuickTime move that shows how fast
and easy it is to use Dock Dispatcher.
This utility sells for $7.95 and, unfortunately, the company doesn't seem to offer a
demo. However, they do offer a 100-percent, no-hassle money-back guaranty if you're
not satisfied with Dock Dispatcher.

Tiger Launch, a freeware utility from Ranchero Software, puts a drop-down menu in your
menubar that lists your applications in alphabetical order. The menu can be easy
configured, for example, to list only apps that aren't already listed in the Dock.
This simple tool currently resides in my menu bar and provides quick, easy access to a
list of apps that I have set up for fast access. Combined with judicious use of the
menubar's Favorite's menu, gives me a highly customized way to access all of my apps.
There are more than two ways...
A quick search of MacUpdate.com yields a list of 18 utilities designed to take the
hassle out of launching applications, most of which are either free or shareware.
Hence, if you're sick of manually digging through your Applications folder to find
seldom used software, you owe it to yourself to check out Dock Dispatcher, Tiger
Launch or one of the dozens of other utilities designed to make application launching
"just work."
