A few years ago I had no problem making a VPN connection to our ADSL modem / router and connecting to my local network.
Now I just can't seem to get it to work. I've tried for hours and hours with different configurations on the client (Mac OS X Server 10.5) and the ADSL modem/router but can't get it to work. I don't think it is the ADSL modem/router because I've set it to pass through the VPN to a Mac OS X Server 10.6 with VPN running and still can't get it to work. The connection seems to be made but then negotiations fail and time out. It seems to be something to do with the PPP negotiations and configurations but, for the life of me, I can't see what to change. There doesn't seem to be much to do wrong on the client side - a PPTP VPN with server address, account name, encryption and authentication. Has anyone seen similar, or know what may be the problem?
