Finally, during its meeting in Singapore ICANN's Board of Directors approved
the new gTLD program yesterday!
*The application window for new gTLDs will be open from January 12 to April
12, 2012.* The initial evaluation
of the new gTLD applications will be published in November 2012. *It is
expected that the first new gTLDs
will be available for registration in 2013.* The application fee in USD will
be a six-figure number.
*ICANN has not yet approved plans for a second round of applications, and
has not specified a timeframe for
when a second round would occur if approved. The time to act is now! Don't
