so begs the question how did it get released in the first place !

The bug has been marked as resolved for 9.
It’s unfortunately still present in 8u51.

Does anybody know: Will this be fixed in the next 8u version?
It is backported to JDK 8u as part of the fix: JDK-8132248 [macosx] Test closed/java/awt/dnd/ImageTransferTest/ImageTransferTest.html fails
