I have two firewire audio interfaces hooked into my Dual Quad: MOTU 896HD Apogee Duet
The Apogee drivers have been Snow Leopard 64-bit compatible for a while now. The MOTU drivers just recently became 64-bit compatible. I was pretty jazzed about being able to run my DUAL in 64-bit mode now. But, I ran into a snag: When I create music videos in my studio, I bring video in over HDMI into a Black Magic Intensity Pro card (which does Apple 422 on the fly) and audio over either my MOTU or my Apogee firewire. I capture via QTPro7 where I can set discrete input sources for video and audio. The video's audio track gets recorded in Big Endian. I then drop the video into Logic Studio to sweeten the audio. Normally, I select the "Export audio to movie" menu option. Logic will then write a new audio track (Sound track 2) into the QuickTime movie. The default option is Little Endian. I then open my QT movie and disable or delete the original soundtrack. Recently, Apple announced / shipped the Logic Studio 9.1 update - Logic Studio is now a 64-bit application. The user, however, can set Logic Studio to run in 32-bit mode by doing a GET INFO on the app and toggling the 32-bit mode switch in the Get Info panel. I've been running Logic Studio in 64-bit mode over the last couple of weeks since the release. When I went to do a new music video the other day, I was astonished to discover the "Export audio to movie" menu item no longer existed. I spent hours trying to figure out what was going on. I ended up having to do my audio sweetening in GarageBand. After scouring the forums a bit more, I found a short post where a user said if you open Logic Studio in 32-bit mode, you will get your "Export audio to movie" menu item back as an option. So now, I'm running my system in 64-bit mode, but Logic Studio (even though it's finally a 64-bit app) in 32-bit mode. Is this likely to be a Quicktime issue or a Logic Studio issue where "Export audio to movie" works only if you are running Logic Studio in 32-bit mode?
