I've had the same problem importing from hard disk. I've noticed that
by simply cancelling the first attempt (which, just like you shows
only empty folders) and trying again works.
Don't know why, sounds stupid, but that's what works for me…
I get that behavious in local or networked files, on 10.6.3, Aperture
3.0.2
