Hi, I have been using a Sony mini-DV camcorder (model DCR-TRV11) for many years. I don't use it very often, but when I do, it seems to work fine, except the battery is about dead. I can easily connect it via firewire to my Mac and import the videos into iMovie, though they are not HD.
Instead of buying a new battery and investing more in this old camcorder, I am thinking about upgrading to an HD camcorder and I am looking for recommendations. Are there certain brands that work best with a Mac and iMovie? Is it best (and most convenient) to get one that records to a hard drive, or is it better to stick with tapes (or CDs)? In fact, do they have some that record to flash memory? My main use is to record an occasional concert, so it would be nice to be able to record for 2-3 hours. Thanks in advance for any advice you can give me.
