I looked long and hard at camcorders last summer (right before we had our baby, not surprisingly...). I ended up choosing between Panasonic, Canon and Sony. My impression was that all three have fantastic camcorders on the market at the moment, and that they all work well with Mac OS X / iMovie. I eventually selected the Sony HDR-CX550 which has been excellent. I choose this one because of its low light sensitivity, image stabilization, storage space and manual controls. It was their top of the line model at the time (for consumers), but I'm sure that the cheaper versions in the same generation of cameras work just as well. Most camcorders record on SD-cards nowadays, and you should certainly choose one that does. Lightweight, durable and energy efficient. Finally, I'd like to call out that the video camera that I use the most is my iPhone 4 (and that I'll probably end up selling my Sony camcorder). You know what they say - The best camera is the one that you have with you. It certainly helps that it also captures great video (for most purposes, although probably not for your concerts), and that it's so extremely easy to share your pictures and movies with friends and family. j o a r _______________________________________________ MacOSX-talk mailing list [email protected] http://www.omnigroup.com/mailman/listinfo/macosx-talk
