People have been installing it.
It isn't a Mac problem. It is a problem for the web servers out there
that let people waltz in and rewrite (poison) the pages hosted on
them.
I got a Facebook message from my niece in Florida telling me that she
has this virus thing on her Mac; I eventually found out that the
browser was going nuts and told her to pay for their antimalware,
which she did. (It happened before I heard any of the details on the
net; I almost burst out laughing.)
I told her to call the card company and stop the credit card payment,
then walked her through what happened and got rid of the thing it
installed.
