It is a Mac (or PC) problem, in the sense that this particular problem doesn't exist on iOS. The solution, if we're looking for one, would be to make Mac OS X more like iOS, in that all apps have to be funneled through trusted authorities before being allowed onto our systems. Some folks would find that perfectly OK, some would hate it.
