Sorry to answer late, but I was away for a few days.
I had tried both versions, but without success. Inbetween I have found
an answer to my question in the internet: open "profiles.ini" in
Application Support > Firefox and set "StartWithLastProfile" to 0,
that brings the ProfileManager again to life...
