World Backup Day occurred this weekend; is anyone else keeping a local
archive of their messages like this? Does everyone else just rely on
their mail client? Or on the mail server?
(i did observe World Backup Day and reviewed my backups)
i use Mail.app to keep a local archive, because it uses maildir and has pretty
good search; Mail is also smart (quick) when i drag items from an IMAP folder
to a local folder (Mail knows the locally cached version is current, so it
doesn't redownload from the server)
i use Thunderbird as my primary email client, despite its flaws, because it
doesn't dumb things down, and i use Mailplane for a couple of gmail accounts; i
have looked at offlineimap, but eventually decided that using Mail for
archiving suffices
