One other thing, I would certainly not edit script files using TextEdit. I would use BBEdit or text Wrangler or text mate or some other more versatile more full-featured more well behaved text editors.
TextEdit is great for short simple notes or light 'word processing' but I would never use it for anything like a script. -- Siri says this is a signature.
