[Wow, a lot of stuff] OK, the gigabit will not help you for any wifi, asnd everything but your mini is wifi, so you're not going to see an improvement with gigabit. However, what I would do is use ethernet on the laptops to backup to time machine, and for that a gigabit switch WILL help. You want 802.11n and you want it from a quality router, either an Apple base station or something at least high-end. I am using a NetGear WNDR3700 which is quite good. You will want to have somewhere to place the router outside of the large metal box you'll be calling home (think of it as portable shielding) if you are going to be at a campground or anywhere you want to use your stuff outside. 2.4GHz has better penetration power than 5GHz, but is more crowded. -- "You've got to dance like nobody's watching." - Kathy Mattea_______________________________________________ MacOSX-talk mailing list [email protected] http://www.omnigroup.com/mailman/listinfo/macosx-talk
