Well, I did some more snooping. Does anyone have experience with this card:
http://www.amazon.com/Compatible-Windows-ORICO-PFU3-4P-Controller/dp/B008V3THAC/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top The price is certainly right ($20). I think I passed over this initially because I saw a few bad reveiws, but I now went back and read most of the reviews and a lot of them were positive. This card (ORICO PFU3-4P) has 4 external USB-3 ports. There is also the ORICO PFU3-202I (also for $20) that has 2 external ports and one internal port. And there is the ORICO PFU3-2P (for $16) with only 2 external ports, but some say it does not need to be connected to a power supply (like the others do). Has anyone ever used any of these? If so, did they work fine with Mavericks (or at least Mountain Lion)?
