I have a 2T drive that has been backing up my MPro flawlessly for a year or so. Now I'm getting this message:

If you have a large amount of stuff on your disk that has changed, or that time machine thinks has changed, it will want to copy them.

Time machine must keep the last backup, intact. So it can't get rid of everything. When it gives this message, it has tried to delete everything except the most recent backup.

So what can you do?

First, try to figure out what Time Machine thinks has changed, and then do a backup with those excluded. If so, it will backup the "stable" stuff, and then your next backup can delete the earlier, now out of date stuff.

If that doesn't work, you might just do a full restart -- have disk utility format the drive, and let time machine start over from scratch.

Now, what can cause this? An OS reinstall might be around 40 GB of change. You have at least 250 GB -- and 11 days since the last backup. So what have you done in the last two weeks?
