That is just silly. 1. Any program can have bugs. Time machine included. (I have found time machine making errors, and reported them. The only solution I have so far is to wipe the backup and start over). 2. Unless you flush the system cache and the drive cache, and force a re-read from the media, there is no way to test for silent data corruption. I don't think time machine does this.
