Hi folks; got an issue with my mini running Yosemite Server and hope somebody can give a hand.
It’s a current generation mini. I upgraded from an older mini running ML and ML Server. After hooking the new mini up I ran Migration Assistant to migrate everything from the old one to the new one (name, users, documents, shares, Server settings, etc) then upgraded to Server 4.0…all of this was in accordance with Apple’s KB article on how to upgrade an ML server to Yosemite on new hardware. The mini is always logged in with the original admin account so that iTunes sharing and Printopia will work as expected; also because I have external drives and they (at least they used to) unmount when no user is logged in. I control the mini using screen sharing from my Yosemite rMBP. The first couple times I screen shared and ran Server app on the mini to adjust something all worked fine…but today it’s not happy at all. I screen share from the MBP; it asks to use the password stored in the MBP keychain and screen sharing starts. Launching Server app on the mini then gives me the “what server to connect to” dialog. I select this mini and hit OK. Up pops the authentication dialog showing the correct server name, the correct (and currently logged in) username, with the password profiled in. Hitting OK gives me the authentication dialog again like it was the wrong password. Typing in the correct known password does the same. So at this point I’ve temporarily at least lost the ability to control this server. Rebooting it…and allowing it to auto login as always… works fine but the problem persists. There’s a second admin account on the mini; tried using those credentials as well. I even tried plugging in a keyboard directly to the mini in case there was something being lost in the screen sharing connection or if the mini thought the caps lock key was on or something…although typing in the username shows this not to be the case. It doesn’t appear that I’ve totally lost access as I can still see all the shares in the regular System Preferences sharing pane…but on selecting one of the shares and doing a Get Info it just shows “fetching” under the name column of the Sharing and Permissions section. Very strange methinks… Has anybody seen this or have any ideas? ----------------------------------------------- There are only three kinds of stress; your basic nuclear stress, cooking stress, and A$$hole stress.
