Go to System Prefs, select Users (might be Users & Groups, I forget exactly 
what it was called in Mavs) then select the user whose login you care about and 
select ‘login items’. Click the ‘+’ to add items, select an item and click the 
‘-‘ to remove items, click the checkbox to have an item selected and run 
automatically on login but to do so invisibly.
