Apple will sometimes fix swollen batteries well out of warranty, even if no
"extended replacement program" is apparent anywhere on the web.

My 2015 MBP Retina was experiencing kernel_task "heat idling" behavior at 85°
ambient (s.b more around 95°), so I thought maybe the fans and ducts needed
cleaning. When I took off the bottom cover, it was a jack-in-the-box
experience. Since a 2015 is way out of warranty, I brought it in to Apple
expecting to pay a $200 battery repair, and was told that since the batteries
had been proving problematical, there would be no charge for the repair. Now,
the batteries are glued into the bottom case (precisely why I chose not to do
the repair myself), so Apple has to "replace the bottom case," which means
taking all your computer's guts out and relocating them into a new
case/keyboard/trackpad unit. That's labor intensive. It takes them 5-7
business days and a trip to the depot.

Maybe you're lucky and 2011s are covered also — take a shot at it.
