% ping ftp.perl.org
PING ftp.cpan.ddns.develooper.com (131.159.72.23): 56 data bytes

--- ftp.cpan.ddns.develooper.com ping statistics ---
2 packets transmitted, 2 packets received, 0% packet loss
round-trip min/avg/max = 112.091/113.451/114.812 ms
% ncftp ftp.perl.org
^C
% portscan ftp.perl.org 20 21
Port Scanning host: 131.159.72.23
Open Port: 21
"portscan" in that last one is a symlink into the nugget at the center of
OSX's Network Utility.app:
/Applications/Utilities/Network Utility.app/Contents/Resources/stroke
But CLI accessible this way.
So anyway, it's ping-able, and the ftp port is nominally open, but an
attempt to actually connect just sits there.
Do you specifically need to get in via FTP for some reason?
