Does anyone else see this behaviour? Is this a planned change?

if site_perl was somehow left out of RC2, I suspect that was a mistake. The vast majority of modules you install from CPAN will go there. See what's in your @INC for 5.8.0. I have:

Characteristics of this binary (from libperl):
  Compile-time options: USE_LARGE_FILES
  Built under darwin
  Compiled at Dec 21 2002 18:20:47
  %ENV:
    PERL5LIB="/usr/local/bricolage/lib"
  @INC:
    /usr/local/bricolage/lib
    /usr/local/lib/perl5/5.8.0/darwin
    /usr/local/lib/perl5/5.8.0
    /usr/local/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8.0/darwin
    /usr/local/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8.0
    /usr/local/lib/perl5/site_perl
