I had not heard of vqServer until your post.  I looked at its home 
page, specifically to see how it handles CGI's on a Mac but was 
unable to quickly find an answer to that.  The reason I looked for 
that information is that the mechanism used for communication between 
CGI's and Web servers on Unix (<STDIN> and <STDOUT>) doesn't work on 
a Mac.  One of the first Mac Web servers, MacHTTP (the great 
granddaddy of WebSTAR) introduced a standard for doing this on a Mac 
using AppleEvents which most Mac Web servers have followed and for 
which the MacPerl CGI glue is designed.  It is not clear to me that a 
package designed to make use of the portability of Java to run on 
multiple platforms will necessarily follow the MacHTTP standard, and 
if it doesn't the MacPerl CGI glue will not work.

Just one possibility to pursue.  Do keep us posted about what you find out.
