Would it be acceptable to use an external application,
Scriptable-Text-Editor-style? You could use a Word Services Apple event to
append text to the window. Or, you might have a dedicated logging app with
a 'log' event.
I know, the whole point of using Perl is to avoid C/C++, but you can use
the work others have already done so you don't have to. In fact, you
already are, by using MacPerl itself.
