It could.  And it was I, indeed.  And I had totally forgotten about having
done it. ;-)

   --John (who also learned more than he ever wanted to know about clipping
files about the same time:  for instance, if a clipping contains TEXT and
styl and PICT in that order, finder will call it a text clipping, but will
display the PICT (presumably out of laziness)...demonstrated by building
such a clipping  file in which the PICT was unrelated to the styled text)
