This might depend on the OS version, but in the Finder, select "About
this computer" from the Apple menu. You'll see how much memory each app
has been assigned, and how much of it is actually is in use. Except for
the OS itself, never mind that one, none of them should be close to
100%. The OS will grab more memory from the global pool, whenever it
needs it.
